Savory Waffle Recipes

If your like me, your waffle maker you just had to have is hidden in the back of your appliance cabinet because you only want waffles once every other month.

I love the idea of using the machine for something savory, since I am not a big fan of sweets.

Here are some simple recipes that use your waffle maker for more than just your typical breakfast food!

Pizza Wafflespizza

Yes, you read that right!

Who doesn’t love pizza? And it would be simple to put different toppings in each waffle for families with different tastes!

Bacon Jalapeno Grilled Cheese

bacon.jpgOkay, so this recipe isn’t exactly the healthiest, but it sure does look delicious!

And instead of using bread you use tater tots!

You could also use tater tots, but play around with different fillings to make it your own.

Beer Mac & Cheese Wafflemac.jpg

It’s Mac & Cheese in a waffle… need I say more?

Cornbread Waffles

corn.jpgThis is the easiest recipe on the list. You make the cornbread as usual and pour it on the waffle maker and your done!

These waffles can go with tons of different foods like chili or soup!

Waffle Omeletwaf

I know, you’ve seen a recipe like this before… But that’s because they are insanely good!

This is my favorite on the list because you have the power to put in any ingredient that appeals to you!

Hopefully this helps you all find new uses for that waffle iron you have in the back of your closet!

Let me know if you have any other savory waffle ideas!

Thank you and God bless!

Weekly Worship

This bible verse has been very close to my heart these past few weeks as we prepare for the big move from Oklahoma to Tennessee.

Moving away from your entire family can be exciting and terrifying at the same time.

I decided to share this verse this week in hopes that it can help someone else get through a tough time as well.

Thanks and God Bless!

Chalkboard DIYdeas

Yes, I am guilty of being OBSESSED with the trend of making everything into a chalkboard.

I don’t know what it is about the idea of having streak filled black decor and having to endure the sound of writing with chalk, but I am in love with it all.

Here are some of my favorite DIY chalkboard ideas that I have been dying to try!

DIY Chalkboard Wineglass

wineHow many of you have been at a girls night and had a swig of the wrong wine?

This is the most adorable solution to all of your problems and it is extremely easy.

You can use wineglasses you already own, get some chalkboard paint and chalk marker and your done!

DIY Monogram Chalk “Slate”

chalkboard-letters-rubberbandsI know that I can’t be the only one who is obsessed with monograms.

This is perfect to add a little something to a room or to give as a gift.

You can get wooden letters at any craft store around for less than $10. (at Hobby Lobby use the app to get a 40% off coupon on one item each visit)

DIY: Chalkboard Upgrade

drawerThese drawers are the easiest to grab if you need a quick storage solution, and they are inexpensive. The downside is that they look like they are inexpensive.

This tutorial gives an easy upgrade to these clear plastic drawers.

These drawers are perfect for everything from clothes to craft supplies (it’s what I keep all of my supplies in), and with this idea, you don’t have to hide them in your closet anymore.

Edible Chalkboard Cookies 20918070466_e25d4323a5_o

I love these cookies!

They are perfect for kids to decorate without having the mess of using tubes of icing.

You can make a big batch for a birthday party and let them be as creative as they want to be. (and not have to worry about them eating the chalk!)

DIY Wood Slice Chalkboard

DIY-Wood-Slice-Chalkboard-iowagirleats-01_miniAnd last but not least, my favorite chalkboard idea on the list!

These wood slices and inexpensive additions to your home decor for any season or event. I actually used this idea to make my brother’s Christmas gift (pictured below).

I love this tutorial because it also explains how to get the perfect chalkboard lettering.

Please let me know how they worked out for you, or if you have any DIY ideas for me to try!

The Girl Behind The Screen

Coffee Addict. DIY Enthusiast. Baseball Lover.

Hello all! My name is Mariah and I have been blogging here since January 2016.

This blog is all about tips and tricks to simplify the do-it-yourself process (and save money at the same time). I also review the popular tutorials to see how “easy” they actually are. Creating things is one of my main passions in life and I’d love to share it with all of you!IMG_0034

A little about myself:

I was born and raised in a small town  in Oklahoma, but am currently in the process of relocating to Tennessee with my future Husband, Christopher. We were best friends for over a year before he (finally) asked me on a date. That was almost five years ago now. I guess I kind of like him so I’ll keep him around for a little while.

I have been obsessed baseball and the Red Sox since I was old enough to talk. I grew up going to all of my brother’s games every season and my family making the four hour drive to Dallas to watch the Rangers since it was the closest team.

I love to spend time with my family every chance I get. I come from a HUGE family (I am the youngest of 24 grandchildren). I have one older IMG_2604brother, two older sisters, one niece, and one nephew. My siblings and I get together every Sunday to catch up on the week and just spend time together.

In my free time, (what little I have of it) I love to spend time outside hiking, taking a walk, or anything else to get some fresh air. I love to drink my coffee every day and can’t function without it. I also craft every second I can so I can bring you all the best tips, tricks, and projects to try on your own.

I am beyond excited to see where this blog takes me and what God has planned for me.

Thanks for reading and God Bless!
